  StanlyStanley Spencer was a British painter. Spencer studied at the Slade School of Art in London. When he was a student, he began to write paintings with biblical theme. Paint biblical/religious pictures

  During the World War ISpencer served as a medic in Macedoniamedical corps. After the war he created paintings with scenes from his own military experience.

  In February 1927 Spencer held his first one-man exhibition solo show/ exhibition at the Goupil Gallery. The centre piece of the exhibition was The Resurrection, Cookham which received rave reviews in the British press.
